Az egynapos útjaimat folytatva az egyik következő célpontom Älmhult volt. A város arról híres, hogy itt épült és nyitott meg az első IKEA áruház 1958-ban. Ezt az eredetet le se tagadhatná a városka - nem mintha akarná. Léptem-nyomot IKEA-ba botlik itt az ember ugyanis. Az IKEA áruház az állomástól 15-20 perc sétányira van, de talál az ember a központhoz közelebb IKEA Hotel-t, IKEA irodát, IKEA tesztlabort, IKEA játszóházat gyerekeknek és még sorolhatnám. Emellett ezen a nyáron megnyílt a hivatalos IKEA múzeum is - aminek meglátogatása volt az utazásom apropója.

A város mindemellett nagyon aranyos, szépen kiépített főtérrel, amelyet sok-sok ülőhely vesz körbe, még hintapadok is vannak. Az állomástól pár méterre egy kis templom áll, amely olyan szépen festett s takaros, hogy egy barbivárosba is beillene. Egy másik templom is van a városban, kissé távolabb az állomástól, amely patinásabb kinézetű, s gyönyörűen ápolt és karbantartott templomkerje van.

Innen vezet az út az IKEA múzeumba, amely megmutatja az IKEA útját egészen a kezdetektől - amikor még csak gondolat volt megalapítója fejében -, végig a jelenig, sok sok színes kiállításitárggyal és berendezett szobaképekkel fűszerezve. A múzeum egyben reklám is az áruháznak - a kiállítási tárgyak mellett ott szerepel az áruk is, s csak át kell ruccannod a közeli IKEA-ba, hogy meg is vásárold őket.

Ha már itt tartunk, természetesen elmentem az IKEA áruházba is. Továbbra is ez az egyik kedvenc helyem a shoppingolásra, rengeteg dolog közül lehet válogatni, s kellemes a hangulat. Nem tértem haza hát üres kézzel - mostmár van saját bögrém a Kiállítóteremben a kávészünetekhez, valamint vanilia illatú gyertyám (sosem tudok ellenállni ezeknek a fárnya illatos gyertyáknak...).

Continuing my one-day journeys my one of my other destinations was Älmhult. This city is where the first IKEA was built and opened in 1958. And it can't deny this origin - not that it wants to. Everywhere you go here, there is a high chance that you are going to bump into something related to IKEA or sharing the name. The IKEA store is about 15-20 minutes walk away from the city, but closer to the centrum you can find the IKEA hotel, the IKEA headoffice, the IKEA Test Lab, the IKEA playhouse for children and I could go on. In this summer they have opened the official IKEA museum, also - which I wanted to check out.

The city is really cute altogether. It has a nicely built main square with many places to sit down, even some swinging benches. Just a few meters from the station stands a little church, which is so well painted and maintained that it could fit in to a barbitown. There is an other church a little further, which is a little more tarnished and stands in the middle of a beautiful churchyard.

Not so far from there is the IKEA museum, which shows the journey of IKEA - from the beginning when it was only a thought in the head of its creator -, all the way to the present, illustrated with many colorful exhibition items and furnished showrooms. The museum also functions as advertisement for the store - next to the exhibition items you can find the price, and you only have to travel a little bit to actually buy them.

Speaking of which, I, of course, visited the IKEA store also. It's still one of my favourite places to go shopping - so many things to choose from and such a nice atmosphere. Needless to say, I didn't return empty handed - I have my own mug now at the Exhibition Hall for the coffee time, and I also have vanilla scented candles to make my room smell amazing.
