in Sweden: Gränser Utställning och Alvesta Folkfest

Szeptember első hete sok munkával telt a Kiállítóteremben. A Sápmi kiállítás augusztus 31-én ért véget, s az azt követő két napban leszedtük és bedobozoltuk a kiállítási tárgyakat. Furcsa volt ilyen üresen látni az előteret, de hamar feltöltöttük az üres helyeket. A következő kiállításunk címe: "Gränser, skillnader och olikheter", magyar fordításban: "Határok, különbségek és eltérések". A kiállítás fő része különböző történelmi korokat megjelenítő térképekkel operál, azt mutatja be, hogyan változtak az országok, vallások és népcsoportok közötti határok az évszázadok során. A másik része másféle határokról szól - vannak informatív képek a bőrről (mint ami elválasztja a testet a külvilágtól), a szív és a szem felépítéséről, szülésről. Szóval a következő héten mindezeket pakoltuk fel a megfelelő helyekre a többi kollégával együtt. Az önkéntestársam, Mathiue emellett készített egy Alvesta kommun térképet a kiállítóterem padlójára pirosra festett kövekből és mohából. Én egy GRÄNSER feliratot festettem a fal lépcsővel szembeni részére. Mindemellett nekünk önkénteseknek kellett készítenünk egy kisebb kiállítást a HATÁROK témán belül. Az enyém a "Gränserna av syn", vagyis a "Látás határait" címet viseli, a kicsit elrugaszkodott vonalat képviselve. Három részre osztottam - van benne szó arról, hogy hogyan észleli az agyunk a színeket (1) és az arcokat (2), milyen különbségek vannak az egyes emberek között e a tekintetben, valamint hogyan látnak az állatok az emberekhez képest (3). A célom az volt, hogy egyszerre legyen érdekes és informatív is - de be kell vallanom, hogy a kognitív pszichológiai énem és az egyetmi évekből származó rutin felülkerekedett rajtam a készítés közben, s csak az utolsó napokban ugrott be, hogy valami sokkal kevesebb munkával járó, de kreatívabb munkát is készíthettem volna. Na majd legközelebb.

A kiállítás megnyitójára emellett újból ingyen kávézási lehetőséggel készültünk (ahogy jó svéd szokáshoz illik), amelyhez sütnöm kellett több tepsi sütit. Hókiflit választottam az egyszerűsége miatt. Készítettem kókuszos és diós verzióban (lekvár nélkül, mert kinek van ideje töltögetni), valamint egyedül mogyorólisztet használva - ez utóbbi mesefinom lett, a mogyoróliszt valami csodatalálmány (meg is van az ára, de nem nekem kellet kifizetni szerencsére). A hivatalos megnyitó szeptember 10-én volt, egyidőben az Alvesta Folkfest-tel. Ez egy egynapos fesztivál a város parkjában (Hagaparken), zenével, étellel és sok érdekességgel (bővebben egy kicsit lejjebb). Itt is jelen kellett lennünk mint önkéntesek, hogy hirdessük egy kicsit az új kiállítást és a Kiállítótermet. Ehhez mindketten készítettünk kis osztogatható szórólapokat - Matthieu az ingyen kávéról, én pedig a kiállítás részleteiről. Ketten végül felváltva voltunk a megnyitón és a fesztiválon. Én a Kiállítóteremben kezdtem, előkészítettem a kávézáshoz a dolgokat és sütöttem még egy tepsi sütit - hogy a finom illat bevonzza az embereket. Aztán kimentem a Folkfest-re.

A Folkfest-et a legjobban úgy írhatnám le, hogy olyan, mint egy falunap, csak alkohol nélkül. Szóval mindenki öntudatának birtokában élvezheti az eseményeket és a zenét, családostul, gyerekekkel együtt. (Az alkohol konkrétan tiltva volt a területen - Svédországban tilos alkoholt fogyasztani közterületen, amibe a fesztivál - és a park - is beletartozik.) Három nagyobb területen zajlottak az események: a főszínpadon különböző énekesek és bandák léptek fel; nem messze a színpadtól volt feállítva egy sátor, ahol szintén zene szólt, valamint a park másik felén táncokat mutattak be (és felfújható szumókosztümben harcolhattál, ha gyerekméretű vagy). Emellett a parkban jelen voltak a helyi cégek és helyek - a színház, a könyvtár, az antikvárium, a turinform iroda és persze a kiállítóterem. Volt továbbá egy sátor, ahol a városban élő külföldi származású emberek tradicionális ételeket árultak. Meglepő és szívet melengető volt, hogy egy ilyen kis városkában mennyi különböző származású ember van: kóstolhattál csecsenföldi, bosznia-hercegovinai, szíriai, afganisztáni és japán ételeket, valamint párat más, meg nem nevezett országokból is. Voltak régi autók és motorok is, valamint egz apróbb művészeti kiállítás a fákon és a padokon. Összességében kellemes hangulatú fesztivál volt, csodálatos napsütéses idővel.

Oh igen, és kifelejtettem, hogy a Kiállítóterem kávézószobájában az egyik falon készítettünk egy kisebb kiállítást a cukorkaképekből, amelyeket már említettem. A nyár folyamán nekünk önkénteseknek kellett készítenünk egy újabb, nagyobb képet - kicsit komolyabbat, mint az első, s a gyermekek által készítettekkel együtt kihelyeztük őket a falra. Nagyon színes és vicces lett. Képek az angol szöveg után (mert a blogspot képkezelő felülete pokol, és így egyszerűbb).

During the first week of September we had a lot of work at the Exhibition Hall. The Sápmi Exhibition ended on the 31st of August and the next two days we had to take off all of the exhibition items and put them in their respective boxes. It was weird to see the hall so empty but it didn't stay like that for too long. Our next exhibition is called "Gränser, skillnader och olikheter", which means "Borders, differences and disparity". Its main shows through many maps how the borders between countries, religions and nations have changed throughout the centuries. Its smaller part is about different borders - there are informative pictures about the skin (as the border between our body and the outside world), about the structure of the heart and the eye and about childbirth. So we had to help out our colleagues and put all these up. The other volunteer, Mathieu made a map of Alvesta kommun on the ground using red-painted rocks and moss. I painted a sign saying GRÄNSER, which is now hanging on the wall in front of the stairs. Furthermore, we volunteers had to make a tiny exhibition in the theme of BORDERS. Mine has the fantasy name of "Gränserna av syn" a.k.a. "The limits (borders) of vision". I divided it into three parts - it summarizes how people see colors (1) and faces (2), what kind of differences there are between people in these and it shows how animals see differently from humans (3). I wanted it to be interesting and entertaning - though to be honest my cognitive psychologist roots and university habits got the best of me, and it only occured to me on the last few days that I could have done something less time-consuming and more creative. Well, next time.

On the opening of the exhibition we offered free fika (as you should as a good Swede), and I had to bake cookies for them - since homemade is always better. I choose a Hungarian cookie called "hókifli" (best translated as "snow croissant"), as it is simple to make. I made it in different versions with coconut and with valnut and using hässlenut flour - which turned out to be incredibly amazing, this flour is something magical (costs just as much, too, mind you). The official opening was on the 10th of September, on the same day as the Alvesta Folkfest, which is a small festival with music, food and things to enjoy (more about it later). We had to represent the Exhibition Hall there, for which we both have created some pamflets/tickets to give out. Mathiue made one about the free fika we were offering, and I made one about the details of the exhibition. So in the end we took turns to be in the Exhibition Hall and in the Alvesta Folkfest. I started in the Exhibition Hall and prepared for the fika and baked some more cookies so that the smell attracts more people. Then I went out to the Folkfest.
The Folkfest was held in Hagaparken and was your typical festival, only without alcohol. So everyone was enjoying the music and the afternoon while being aware of it - making it family- and childfriendly. (Alcohol was actually banned from the area - it is illegal to drink alcohol in public places in Sweden, even on festivals). There was three main areas where thing happened: there were singers and groups perfoming in the main stage; there was a tent not so far from there where they also played music and on the other side of the park you could see different types of dances (and fight in inflatable sumo-costumes if you are child-sized). Furthermore local shops and organisations presented themselves around the park - the theatre, the library, the second-hand bookshop, the tourist office and of course the exhibition hall. There was also a tent where local people who came from different countries sold traditional food of their cultures. It was suprising but heart-warming to see that such a small city could have such a huge variety of origins: you could taste food from Chechnya, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Siria, Afganisztán, Japan and some more. You could also look at old cars and motorcycles and a little art exhibition done on the trees and benches. Altogether it was a nice festival with good atmosphere and wonderful sunny weather.
Oh, and I almost forgot, we also did a little exhibition on one of the walls of our fika room - we put the candy pictures on it which we - the volunteers - and the children made. During the summer we both had to make a new, bigger one - a little bit more serious than the previous one -, and put it on the wall together with the children's. It became a colorful and fun part of the room.
